HTPO's full service planning, design and construction team consists of civil engineers, land surveyors, landscape architects, construction managers, inspectors, project managers, drafting and administrative staff, along with solid leadership that has guided the company for nearly four decades.

Civil Engineer

Hansen Thorp Pellinen Olson, Inc. (HTPO) has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer with two+ years of experience to provide civil engineering design and drafting for a wide variety of projects. As a key member of our team, you will work on a broad mix of both public projects focused on roadways, utilities, facilities, trails, and parks as well as a full range of private development projects.

In a typical week you may:

  • Play a role in project design and coordination
  • Specific tasks that you may perform include design calculations, cost estimates, technical reports and plan preparation
  • Attend meetings and coordinate with project team members
  • Assist with surveying or inspection needs during seasonal fluctuations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a civil engineering design role
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University
  • Registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
  • Be self-motivated and able to work both individually and as a team member
  • Good communication, problem solving and organization skills
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information, communicate with employees, clients/contractors and the general public
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD Civil3d and/or Bentley OpenRoads)

Entry Level Civil Engineer

Civil Engineering CAD Technician

Hansen Thorp Pellinen Olson, Inc. (HTPO) is looking for a Civil Engineering CAD Technician with two+ years of experience.

HTPO has a terrific opportunity for a Civil Engineering CAD Technician who has experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Bentley Open Roads.

In a typical week you may:

  • Coordinate with a high-quality team of surveyors and engineers
  • Set-up drawings and work with survey field data
  • Draft boundary and topographic surveys, plans and easement exhibits
  • Assist with boundary and area computations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two+ years of experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Bentley Open Roads through school or job related
  • Strong math computation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • General knowledge of construction
  • Ability to read plans
  • Willingness to learn other software

Survey Crew Chief

Hansen Thorp Pellinen Olson, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Crew Chief. This is a full-time position with benefits.

In a typical week you may:

  • Work independently and as part of a survey team
  • Coordinate daily with project managers
  • Perform ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary & topographic surveys, and construction layout
  • Communicate with client and contractors and provide positive client relations
  • Read and interpret construction plans
  • Manage field data, maintain field notes and files, review final drawings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience performing construction layout and land surveys or related activities.
  • NSPS Certified Survey Technician Level I, or ability to get CST I within 6 months of hire.
  • Being self-motivated, and able to work both individually and as a crew member
  • Good communication and organization skills with working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information.
  • Acceptable driving record and valid Class D driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or NSPS Certified Survey Technician Level I-III
  • Experience with Leica GPS and Robotic Total Station
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation experience

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to work extended hours, including some weekends, to accommodate Contractor's schedule
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.

Survey Field Technician Intern

Hansen Thorp Pellinen Olson, Inc. (HTPO) is looking for a Survey Field Technician intern for the 2024 summer season.

In a typical week you may:

  • Assist crew chiefs with construction staking, quality control, contractor communications
  • Manage electronic and written data
  • Assist crew chiefs with field surveying, including boundary and topographic surveys, survey for designs, plats, CIC, etc.
  • Assist with operation of equipment and instruments to measure, record, and calculate data
  • Stock vehicles with survey supplies and equipment

You need to have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job training
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information
  • Acceptable driving record, ability to commute daily, and valid Class D driver’s license

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to work extended hours, including some potential weekends, to accommodate Contractor’s schedule
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight stays, if needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending, carrying materials, and standing for long periods of time
